Data: how we clean it, how complete it is

All court data comes from OpenStreetMap (snapshot of 2026-10-08). Here is what we do with it and where it falls short.

How we clean the data

How complete is it?

Incomplete. Volunteers map where they live and play. Share of venues with each property, across the 5 US metro areas live now:

Padel is new in the US and still has few courts, so it is sparsely mapped for now. An empty cell in the directory means “not mapped”, not “no”.

Private courts

We do not show private courts: courts at homes and in residential yards, and courts that OpenStreetMap marks as private (access=private). We recognise them from those OpenStreetMap tags and from courts that sit on residential plots. Members-only clubs that are marked as private are hidden too. If we hid a public court by mistake, tell us — hello@courtlygo.com.

License and attribution

Court data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and available under the Open Database License 1.0. The city JSON files we publish are a derived database and are shared under the same license: credit OpenStreetMap contributors, keep the license, and share improved copies under the same terms. Maps show tiles from OpenStreetMap.

Fix the data

Courts also come from OpenStreetMap, where anyone can add or fix them: leisure=pitch with sport=tennis (or padel, pickleball), plus courts, surface, lit, access, fee where you know them. Or email us the court's name, address and what to change.
